Viana & Alec’s Cozy Winter Engagement Session in the West Village
There’s something incredibly romantic about a winter engagement session in New York City, and Viana and Alec’s West Village shoot was the perfect example of why. Even though the temperatures were very cold, we leaned into the season and created an engagement session that felt authentic, cozy, and completely them.
As a New York wedding photographer, I always encourage couples to choose locations and activities that reflect their real life together—and for Viana and Alec, that meant wandering the West Village and stopping for hot chocolate, just like they would on any winter day in the city.
Hot Chocolate at Fellini’s: A Cozy Start to Their NYC Engagement Session
To warm up from the winter chill, we kicked things off at Fellini’s in the West Village, grabbing hot chocolate and easing into the session naturally. This stop wasn’t just about staying warm—it added a layer of storytelling and intimacy that made their photos feel effortless and genuine.
Incorporating small, meaningful moments like this is one of my favorite ways to photograph engagement sessions in NYC. It helps couples relax, forget about the camera, and focus on each other—resulting in photos that feel candid, romantic, and timeless.
Exploring the West Village: Brownstones, Cobblestone Streets & Classic NYC Charm
After warming up, we headed back outside to explore the streets of the West Village, one of the most iconic and picturesque neighborhoods in New York City. The historic brownstones, charming stoops, and quiet side streets provided a stunning backdrop that never goes out of style.
The West Village is a dream location for engagement photos because it offers:
Classic New York City architecture
Cozy, romantic streets perfect for walking photos
A timeless look that works beautifully in any season—especially winter
If you’re considering a West Village engagement session, this neighborhood is ideal for couples who love a mix of city energy and intimate, neighborhood charm.
A Stop at the Iconic Friends Apartment
No West Village photo session is complete without a stop at one of NYC’s most recognizable spots—the Friends apartment building. Viana and Alec couldn’t resist snapping a few photos here, adding a fun, nostalgic touch to their gallery.
These moments are always a reminder that engagement photos don’t have to be overly serious. Including places that are meaningful, iconic, or just plain fun helps tell your unique love story—and makes your session feel personal to you.
