Allison & Zach | Dahlonega Mountains Engagement | North Georgia Wedding Photographer

Allison and Zach’s modern day love story starts with how Zach swiped right. Just like with most couples nowadays they met online. Despite both of their apprehensive about the app called Tinder for finding single people, but it turned out one of the best decisions they could have made! Fast forward 4 years later, Zach knew it was time to ask Allison the most important question, “Will you marry me?” Spoiler she said, "yes!”

We started Allison and Zach’s engagement session in the square of downtown Dahlonega. My good friend, David with DVH Weddings joined us to capture video and BTS from the shoot (be sure to watch the video below!) The first stop was Picnic Cafe. The cutest little coffee shop with some of the sweetest staff! We followed that spot with just some photo around the square before we headed to a secret spot just up the road with the most beautiful mountain view!

Here is their proposal told by Zach himself!

“By the 4th year, everyone including our families really knew we would eventually get married, but that was up to me. One thing about myself is that I really like the finer things in life (hence why I swiped right on Allison), so getting a ring was an overwhelming idea in my head. I wanted it to be perfect. Luckily, I reached out to a family friend, who is a jeweler, and told him what she liked and just made a point to go in one day and see what it would cost and how the process would be. Turned out, that would be one of the best weeks of my life.

I told Allison I was going in to see Fevsi so he could show me the process, along with dropping my watch off to be fixed. I arrived at his shop and met my dad there. Fevsi pulled out a bag of diamonds and the 3rd diamond he showed me was perfect. He told me that it could be ready by the weekend, so I purchased it that day.

Well, the weekend came and Fevsi called to tell me it was ready, so I tried to play it off by telling Allison that we were going into get my watch, which I had dropped off for service at the same time I bought the ring, and that I would drop her off at Austin’s condo, which was next to his shop because I also wanted to “look” at some options for rings. I had told Allison I wanted the process of buying a ring to be my thing to do, without any input from her.

I picked up the ring and went back to Austin’s condo to pick up Allison. We ended up going to my dad’s house in Kennesaw to get some stuff from his house and the storage unit. I knew while driving that I couldn’t wait for a perfect time to propose, so I frantically was trying to think of anything that was related to our past in Kennesaw, such as offering to go pickup Henry’s (COVID lockdown still was in effect) but Allison didn’t want one of our favorite restaurants!!!

The ring was in the console of my truck and we were on the way from my dad’s house to go to the storage unit. We spent a good deal of time trying to find the key for my unit that I had lost in my truck, but I managed to get the ring in my pocket after about 20 minutes of looking through my mom’s unit and my car. I told her to go back in one more time to double-check and that is when I asked the best question in my life.

Her face turned bright red and she said What?!?!! Here?!?! In a storage unit?!?! Come outside!!! Of course she said yes but I caught her off guard and that was the best reaction that I have ever gotten out of Allison. (She is very good at figuring out what you are planning and accidentally ruins your surprises a lot of times, but I got her this time!)”
